Nerita Bedasie Sukdhoe

The Newcastle-born beauty started modeling at the age of 11 to boost her self confidence.
Today, 16 years later, ramp and photographic modeling have become her passionate hobby.
She believes that versatility, determination, confidence and talent have brought her to this moment.
Growing up as a teenager in Newcastle she often felt limited and restricted to perusing her dreams and
therefore decided to start Bedazzle Models to give models in smaller towns their chance to train
at a qualified agency so they could compete internationally. Nerita graduated with a National Diploma in
Tourism Management from the University of Johannesburg, traveled the world by visiting 17 countries
, won 2 international pageants, tied the knot in 2010 and has started her modeling agency.
She hopes to share more than her success with you and
instead the lessons learnt on this journey called life.

She lives by the words “be the change you want to see in this world…”, as she has
changed her life to be an ambassador and role model and make a difference in our community.
Her goal was to work with the youth who are the future of our country as well as promote
education as education is the key to success

On the 24 September 2008, Nerita was the first Indian women crowned Miss Africa and she stood
before you not only representing our country South Africa but also our continent Africa.
Serving as Miss Africa 2008 has truly been a blessing that she will cherish for the rest of her life.

So many doors have been opened to her as a direct result of being Miss Africa and
she was featured in 78 different articles from the Sunday Times Newspaper to Glamour magazine.

Even though her main focus was to work hard and make a difference, she has had generous sponsorships and attended glamorous events such as Miss World and the Queens Plate Horse Racing Event. She has been the brand ambassador for Tudor, Kaylin Tours, Environ, A Touch of Paris Beauty Salon and Vivienne’s bridal boutique.

She has chosen not to work with one specific charity but instead a variety of organizations. She promoted education by donating school bags to Yenzani Children’s Home and painting classrooms at Norah’s Educare Centre. The journey of life is so interesting, so she helped all ages, from clothing abandoned babies at the Door of Hope babies’ home to providing lunch to the elderly at Newcastle’s Organization for the Aged. One of her most heart breaking memories was visiting the residents at the Avril Elizabeth Home, but they taught her that we can overcome any obstacles which we face. She learnt to promote her culture and tradition after spending time at the Aryan Benevolent Home. Hospitals have always saddened her, yet the patients of Johannesburg General and Parklane Hospital brightened up her day, after she took those Christmas presents. When she was asked to lead the Ghandi walk in ‘Lenasia , she was ecstatic as she gave a tribute to her role model Mahatma Ghandi.

One of her goals is to change mind sets of people’s perceptions of pageants. Winning a major pageant like this is like applying for a job in front of hundreds of people. And as a job, along with the title comes the responsibilities of public appearances, interviews and travel. While being a beauty queen may have the panache of being a fairy tale, we are simple people trying to make a difference in society. We develop poise and self-assurance as we spread our messages and serve our communities, helping others to better their lives. To the young ladies joining Bedazzle Models: dare to dream big! The most important advice I can share with you is, remember with great power comes great responsibility! Your time with Bedazzle Models will be filled with joy, glamour and hard work. Nerita is a vibrant, dynamic entrepreneur who always sets high standards for herself. A motivated go-getter who puts plans into action and strives to excel in everything she does, both personally and professionally.
